LAST EVENT: Creátre Cultural Arts Program at the Downtown Boys & Girls Club

From June 24th - July 26th, Creátre conducted a 6-part arts program at the Downtown Boys & Girls Club.  In addition to poetry, painting, songwriting/recording, African drumming and guitar lessons, Creátre offered a class on acting/performance.  See picture below and here for more footage!

Creátre Cultural Arts Program at Harvest Baptist Academy!

The Creátre Cultural Arts Program had its second session at Harvest Baptist Academy Aug 3rd - 12th.  Approximately 17 youth participated in this program that focused on the rich heritage of Africa through the African drumming segment.  Take a look at what they did!  For more pictures and video of this session, go to the "Past Events" tab above.

Creátre Cultural Arts Program at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida!

In collaboration with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida, the first "Creátre Cultural Arts Program" took place June 13th - 24th.  The program was held at the Boys & Girls Club located at 639 W. Central Blvd., as well as at the Jackson Community Center, located at 1002 W. Carter Street.  This focus of this program was to develop the artistic talent of youth who would not have otherwise had the opportunity.  Of the youth that were a part of the program, 71% of had never had any training in the art form they participated.  Look at the amazing art that they created!

Disney Gives $250K to support Local Youth Development Programs:

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla., April 28, 2011 – As Walt Disney World Resort embarks on its second week of a 40-day celebration across Central Florida to shine a spotlight on charitable organizations, it is lending support to several groups that develop and strengthen the character of local children.  

With special gifts totaling $250,000 in tow, Mickey Mouse held a surprise meeting this morning with four local organizations to recognize and reward their efforts.
 


 Recipients of Disney funding are:
  • A Gift For Music                                                        $100,000        
  • Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida                         $100,000       
  • Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Florida                  $  40,000   
  • City of Orlando Mayor’s Matching Grant Program      $  10,000
  • Funding to be divided among Wake Up Mentoring, Inc. and Creátre
